A plot to rent is the following
Full plot ranges between £33.00 - 49.00 Half Plot ranges between £25.00 - 33.00
Rent fees included the plot rent, water usage and an addition charge of £5 for a hose pipe.
If key is lost or need a second the charge is £10.
On accepting the plot you will need to go to Izzards and pay the rent demand direct to them. Currently they accept cash or cheques.
Yes, deposits are taken by the plot letting secretary on the day of being shown and accepting the plot. Unlike the rents, which is governed by Harlow Association and taken by them, despots are governed by Linford End.
You will need to pay £50 for a full plot and (£35) for a half plot. This is to help cover the cost to the site if the plot was left in a unfit state and being left unable to rent again. Deposits will go towards clearing all man-made objects, rubbish, plastics etc that are left helping rubbish clearing for the new tenant. If left plot is left in good condition and all rubbish taken away the deposit will be given back on the agreed last day you leave.
Water charges are included in the rent fees. There is however a charge for using a hose pipe which will be added to the rents. Should you wish to remove this charge please let the Izzards know.
All plots are subject to an inspection which will be notified by the committee in good time for the inspection. Any plot deemed to be kept in an cultivated state will receive a first letter, once this letter is received you will need to make a good effort to get your plot to a satisfactory condition. If it continues to be left in a poor state a second letter will be sent . Upon receiving a third letter you will be asked to leave the site. You can request a review of this decision from Izzards. please note that continue failure to meet a basic standard or you’re struggling for any reason, please let any of the committee know as we may be able to help and avoid loosing the plot.
If you want to end your tenancy, you are required to give 2 weeks notice and will be expected to return the plot in a reasonable condition . This includes any rubbish or anything bought to the plot by the tenant. Failure to do so will incur the loss of your deposit.
No, anything produced on your allotment are for home/family use only and not to be mass produced for other purposes. If found to be growing for any other reason than home/family then you will forfeit your plot and be asked to leave.
You must be 18 or over to rent an allotment.
The more hours you can put into your plot the greater it will benefit , there isn’t a set amount of hours but the more you put in, the more you will get out. During the Growing season around to March - Oct, we recommend at least 8 hours a week to sufficiently maintain your plot. During winter it will be less than the growing season.
Live stock such as Rabbits, chickens and bees can be kept on site. All other live stock is not allowed. Bee’s are allowed only with permission from the committee. Please note the the holder is responsible for following all regulations regarding keeping their live stock.
Yes, but it cannot be any greater than 6ft long, 4ft wide and 8ft tall. You will be asked to remove it should this be exceeded.
These are available to allotment holders, Izzards have a discounted shop available on their site which we have access to. We also have discounts available from kings seeds and Sutton seeds.
We are insured via our membership of the nation allotment association.
